Excited or what?

Went to a BNI conference yesterday and was inspired by a bunch of great speakers. Very informative, funny and authentic. I learned lots and came away even more determined to get out there and do my bit in the world!

Right side of the line

Whilst I was visiting St Paul’s (see previous post)  I was thinking a lot about my mate Nigel.  He was one of the trumpeters who played the trumpet fanfare for Charles and Diana’s wedding back in 1982.  Wow!!  Imagine virtually the whole world listening to you playing…now that’s pressure. What’s interesting for me is I discovered this quite some time after I first met him and he didn’t tell me, it was someone else.  If I had accomplished something like that, I would be telling EVERYBODY!  There is, however, a fine line between self-aggrandisment and sharing in order to inspire others – you just have to hope that for the most part, you’re on the right side of the line!

Not in the grand scheme of things……

Posted by lisallen on under Uncategorized | Read the First Comment

Last week was a very interesting week – all sorts of things happened which weren’t in the grand scheme of things – or at least my grand scheme of things! I had a few hours free in London and went to visit St Paul’s Cathedral on the spur of the moment.  What a beautiful building – I parted with £11 which will enable me to have limitless entry over the next 12 months. Bargain!!  How many times have you gone to a museum or art gallery and rushed round like a headless chicken because you felt you ‘ought to see as much as possible’.  What was interesting was my initial resistance to parting with £11 to go inside a church.  However I got over that one and decided that it was ok to make a contribution to the building and that I would go back to have another look another time.
